How to Create Your Own Crypto on Solana (Step-by-Step Guide)
A plain-English guide to creating your own Solana token: what you need, choosing a name and supply, adding an image, launching on Craic Hub, and staying safe.
Not financial advice. Crypto is risky and you can lose everything you put in. Do your own research. Craic Hub is non-custodial: you trade from your own wallet and nobody here ever needs your seed phrase. Fees paid in $CRAIC are burned.
What a Solana token actually is
A Solana token is an entry on the Solana blockchain created by the SPL token program. It has a mint address (its unique ID), a name, a ticker, a supply and a picture stored in its metadata. Creating one doesn't need any coding: a launch tool sends the transactions for you and you approve them in your wallet.
What you need before you start
- A Solana wallet such as Phantom, Solflare or Backpack, installed from the official site.
- A small amount of SOL to pay network fees and the launch cost shown on the launch page.
- A name, a short ticker (3 to 6 letters is usual), a square image (PNG or JPG) and a one-line description.
- Optional links: website, X account, Telegram group.
Step 1: Plan the basics
Decide the name, ticker and total supply. Pick something you have the right to use: don't copy another project's name or logo. Write a description that's honest about what the token is. If it's a fun community coin, say so.
Step 2: Open the launch page and connect your wallet
Go to Launch a coin and tap Connect wallet. Your wallet will ask you to connect. That only shares your public address. It never shares your seed phrase.
Step 3: Fill in the details
Enter the name, ticker, image and description, plus any links. Check the spelling carefully because the name and ticker can't easily be changed afterwards. The launch page has a Show me how helper that walks you through each field.
Step 4: Review and approve
Read the cost summary, then approve the transaction in your wallet. Check that the wallet popup shows the amounts you expect. When it confirms, you'll see your new token's mint address and a link to its page.
Step 5: Make it findable
- Submit it for a free listing on the List your token page.
- Create a pool so people can trade it, using Create a pool.
- Share the mint address from official channels only, so people don't get tricked by copies.
Safety tips
- Never type your seed phrase into any website, including this one.
- Be clear and truthful in your token's description. Don't promise returns.
- Expect copycat tokens. Always publish the exact mint address.
