How to Swap Solana Tokens Safely: A Practical Guide
How to swap Solana tokens without getting scammed: checking mint addresses, slippage, honeypot and rug-pull warning signs, wallet approvals, and using the Craic Hub safety check.
Not financial advice. Crypto is risky and you can lose everything you put in. Do your own research. Craic Hub is non-custodial: you trade from your own wallet and nobody here ever needs your seed phrase. Fees paid in $CRAIC are burned.
Use your own wallet
On a non-custodial exchange like Craic Hub you swap directly from your own wallet. Your coins never sit on our servers. Nobody legitimate will ever ask for your seed phrase. If a site, bot or "support agent" does, it's a scam.
Check the mint address, not the name
Anyone can create a token with any name and logo. The only reliable ID is the mint address. Copy it from the project's official website or X account and compare it with the token you've selected. The first and last few characters should match exactly.
Read the safety check before you trade
Craic Hub runs a safety check on tokens before you trade. It looks at things like whether the creator can still mint more tokens, whether accounts can be frozen, and how concentrated holdings are. A warning doesn't always mean a scam, but you should take it seriously.
Set sensible slippage
Slippage is how far the price may move before your swap fails instead of filling. For big, liquid tokens 0.5% to 1% is usually enough. Very high slippage on a small token can leave you open to sandwich attacks. Raise it only when you understand why it's needed.
Watch for warning signs
- Tiny liquidity compared with the token's claimed value.
- A handful of wallets holding most of the supply.
- Promises of guaranteed profit, or pressure to buy "now".
- Tokens you can buy but can't sell (test with a small amount first).
Review what your wallet asks you to sign
Read every wallet popup. A swap should show the tokens and amounts you expect. Reject anything asking for unexpected approvals or transfers.

Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to swap on a DEX?
It can be, if you verify mint addresses, read the safety check and approve only transactions you understand. No exchange can remove all risk.
What is a honeypot token?
A token built so you can buy it but can't sell it. Testing with a small amount and reading the safety check helps you spot one.
Do I need to sign up?
No. Craic Hub has no sign-up: you connect your own wallet.
